Digital jaw surgery
In some cases the usual treatment approaches are not enough. Teeth close to the nerve canal, jaws where a conventional implant cannot hold, large cysts, severely resorbed bone and jaws that have already had implants are the most common of these cases.
In such cases the treatment plan is reconsidered from the beginning. Before surgery the jaw is examined on three-dimensional images and the surgical steps are planned on the computer. In suitable cases AI-assisted software is used in this process. Every treatment decision remains with the clinician.
Focus areas
Clinical work covers the core fields of oral and maxillofacial surgery: diseases of the jaws, implant treatment, facial trauma, and hard and soft tissue repair. Professional experience is concentrated in the following areas.
- Reconstruction of the atrophic jaw
- Rebuilding severely resorbed bone with grafts so that it can carry permanent teeth.
- Zygomatic implants
- Anchorage in the cheekbone when the upper jaw does not have enough bone.
- Fixed teeth on four implants
- A fixed bridge on four supports, two of them placed at an angle, in a jaw with no teeth.
- Jaw cysts
- Surgical treatment of cysts growing inside the bone, and follow-up of healing.
- Teeth next to the nerve
- Removal of teeth lying close to the nerve that gives sensation to the lower lip, with a technique that protects it.
- Digital surgical planning
- Planning the whole treatment in a virtual environment before surgery.
Teaching
Sharing clinical experience with colleagues has been an important part of this work, through lectures at congresses and workshops in Türkiye and abroad.
Hands-on courses on implant treatment in severely resorbed jaws brought together dentists from Türkiye, Tunisia, Morocco, Lebanon, the Netherlands, Ukraine, Iraq, Egypt, Jordan and Pakistan.
Between 2016 and 2021 the training programmes focused on tilted implants and difficult cases with bone deficiency. In 2020 a surgery performed with the four-implant technique was streamed live online for clinicians.
About
Born in 1979 in Targovishte, Bulgaria. Settled in Adapazarı with his family at the age of ten, after the forced migration of 1989.
Graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Dentistry in 2003. Completed his PhD in 2008 in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the same faculty and became a specialist in oral and maxillofacial surgery. Deepened his bone grafting training through the programmes of Prof. Dr. Fouad Khoury. Advanced bone grafting has been at the centre of his clinical practice since 2011.
Took part in founding Ev Diş and has been on its clinical staff since 2010. Since December 2024 he has been seeing patients at the Ev Diş Oral and Dental Health Centre in Serdivan. Faculty member at Beykoz University in the 2019–2020 academic year.
Alongside surgical practice, he contributed to R&D projects on implant design and on new materials used in bone regeneration. The results were published in international journals and presented at congresses.
In recent years software and artificial intelligence have become a second field of work alongside surgery. He develops AI-assisted products for education and health. One of them is Chentik, a digital mistake notebook for students in grades 5 to 8, available on the App Store and Google Play. He built its first version for his own child and turned it into a product when other families asked for it. In dentistry he runs projects on how this technology can support clinical decision-making.
Speaks English and Bulgarian fluently and Russian at an intermediate level. Married, father of two.
